Disco Ball Mission (For Tosh and Rei)

[Toshii]

Tosh jumped and bounced off from wall to wall, over-enthusiastic and excited for this mission. Finding the disco ball would probably be no problem if she is with Rei, a very resourceful and inquisitive person. Tosh stopped her bouncing and looked all around her area, wondering where the missing ball could possibly be."Okay Rei, Lets do our best to find that Disco Ball! I really want to go buy sweets for myself and the others~" Tosh chimed, drooling over the amount of desserts she could by. She shook her head, getting back into concentration. She dragged her gaze around the area they are now, looking in a nearby alley. She spots something shine.

"Hey Rei! What if its over there?!" Tosh said pointing to a gleam, hiding in between two trash cans.

Rei looked where Tosh was pointing and shrugged. "You never know," she said, picking up one of the trash cans and setting it aside. The object Tosh had spotted was a cracked mirror that somebody was throwing away. Rei put the trashcan back and put her hands on her hips.

"We can't just inspect every flash and shiny thing we see. There's too much of that in this city. We need to figure out where they put it after last year's festivities and go from there," she said, shading her eyes from the sun and surveying the street. "We need to find Central Storage and begin looking the--Woah!"

Rei fell down face first. She rolled over, finding a cat on her back. "What in the..." she began, then stopped. "Run!" Rei shouted, clambering to her feet and running down the street, a large pack of dogs following close behind, cat clinging to her back.

[Toshii]

"Awwww...." Tosh said disappointed by the object. She shoved her hands in her pockets, kicking the dirt and listening to what Rei had to say. Tosh looked up when she saw the cat jump on Rei's back. Her eyes widened as she exclaims, "KITTY!!!" Tosh said as Rei started running. Tosh ran right behind her, not at all noticing the pack of dogs chasing after them and more importantly the cat. Tosh just wanted the cat. "Come back kitty!!" Tosh kept saying as she ran behind Rei.

Tosh snapped her eyes from the cat for second at the small dog that ran right between her legs. Tosh growls. "Oh no you don't!" Tosh said scooping up the dog and tossing it behind her.

Rei glanced behind her, counting the number of dogs quickly. "Six," she said. She hardly had time for this. She grabbed Tosh's wrist and rounded a corner, entering an alley. She grabbed the corner of the building with her left hand, using alchemy to create a wall between them and the dogs. She leaned on her knees, panting slightly.

"Well, we needed to get our hearts pumping, I guess," she said, straightening. She looked at the cat that still clung to her back and shrugged, deciding to ignore it for now. "Let's get to Central Storage, shall we?" She led the way down the alley to the other end. It led them to another street, a few cars driving by noisily.

[Toshii]

"WHOA!" Tosh said as Rei grabbed her and and rounded the corner. She nodded, impressed by Rei's reaction time. "At least the dogs are off our tails." Tosh said chuckling at the unintended pun. She glances at the cat as she pried it off Rei's pack, cradling and stroking its head following Rei.

The cats purrs in response, content. Tosh nods at Rei at her suggestion. Suddenly, Tosh straightened, her nose pocking into the air and sniffing fresh bread from the oven. She dashed down across the street towards the store on the other side. "FOOD!" Tosh screamed as she ran through the street, a truck coming her way.

[Yoyo]

"Tosh?" Rei asked, hearing the young girl shout behind her. Tosh was no longer there, but rather sprinting across the road at the only moment there were enough cars to be dangerous. "Tosh!" she shouted, chasing after the girl.

She got a step into the street and pulled back, unable to advance for the number of cars. "Where did they all come from?" she thought, annoyed. She ran down the sidewalk until an opening appeared. She raced across the street and back up the sidewalk to the place Tosh had crossed. She arrived at the restaurant that had been the girl's destination and looked about frantically.

Tosh stopped momentarily and turned towards the truck barreling towards her. The truck, not seeming to see Tosh, just came straight at her. Tosh puts the cat on the front of her shirt, the cat clinging tightly and swiftly summons strong winds to shoot her straight into the air, avoiding the truck and landing safely on top of it as it drives away, along with her. Tosh blinks, watching Rei become a smaller speck in her eyes and tears wells up in her eyes as she is also going away from the land of fluffy sweetness. She sighs as she pulls tightly down on her glove.

[Yoyo]

Rei felt a huge gust of wind that nearly knocked her off her feet. She turned toward the street, seeing something fly straight up. She used her hand to block the sun and tried to follow the object into the air. It flew high into the air, nearly disappearing before it began to slow and fall back down.

"What in the world is that?" she asked quietly, confused and mildly concerned. She backed away from the street until she felt the rough texture of brick behind her. She leaned against the restaurant wall, eyes fixated on the unidentified flying speck.

[Toshii]

Tosh summoned another gust of wind as she is propelled off the top of the truck and flies towards the bread bakery where Rei is. She landed safely and softly in front of Rei, smiling awkwardly and scratches behind her head. She felt embarrassed and stupid at the same time.

"So sorry Rei, I'm really hungry and didn't eat before I left the bookstore." Tosh said prying the terrified cat from her shirt and pets it reassuringly. The cat settles and calms down, resting back in Tosh's arms. "Let's just go to the Central Storage." Tosh said slapping her barking stomach.

[Yoyo]

Rei gave Tosh a side hug and led her down the street that would lead them to Central Storage. "We'll find you something to eat after we find the disco ball," she laughed. She pulled an apple out of her pocket - Will had given her one before she left that morning - and handed it to Tosh with a smile. After walking the length of the street, they reached Central Storage.

Rei walked up to the counter, asking the lady there if they could look in the storage facility they usually keep the disco ball in. The answer was a flat "no." Rei returned outside with Tosh and frowned. She crossed her arms and stared at the cars, before smiling.

"Ever done stealth missions, Tosh?" she asked, looking down at her partner with a sly smile.

[Toshii]

Tosh smiled as Rei gave her a side hug, walking alongside with her. Tosh gasped when Rei offered her the apple and smiled her thanks, breathing on it and wiping it on her shirt before taking a thoughtful bite of the red fruit.

Chewing, she waited outside the Storage, waiting for Rei to finish her business. Tosh tore off a piece of the apple, feeding it to the cat. Sh continued enjoying her apple and heard a low and familiar growl from somewhere. She froze but relaxed when Rei walked out. Tosh nodded at her question, smirkign a bit deviously. "Yeah, a few times when I was a part of the Resistance." Tosh said finishing her apple. "If I am thinking what you are thinking, then I'm guessing a little Sneak-and-Search?"

Rei smiled and nodded, leading Tosh away from the entrance of the building to the side. She leaned against the wall and crossed her arms. She stared hard at the ground several feet ahead of her, mentally picturing what they needed to do.

"There are a few options that I can see. We need to get into the back of the building to the big storage area. Out back, there are a lot of small sheds that people can rent to hide things. We need to find out which of the buildings is the one they keep the disco ball in normally. Then we break in, look around, then get out without getting caught." She paused and looked at Tosh. "Which job do you want, my flying friend?"

[Toshii]

Tosh pondered this for a moment, liking Rei's plans for he sneaky invasion. She then paused, remembering the growl of a possible Chimera and regarded it to Rei. "Rei, I heard a growl that sounded like a Chimera. They are still prowling around Central..." Tosh said remembering that fact. She went back to the plans, not getting too worried with the Chimera. Though, innocent people could get involved, which is not good. At all.

"I think I will do part two of the operation." Tosh responded, petting the cat. She yawns, pulling down on her black fingerless glove to make sure its on tight.

[Yoyo]

Rei's eyes narrowed at the reminder of the chimera. "Hopefully we don't have to deal with those while we're here," she thought, irritated. She shook her head, clearing her mind of thoughts of chimera.

"Alright, I'll find out which one it is. Just wait here a moment," Rei said. She started to turn to leave, then stopped and came back. She pet the cat, then took him from Tosh. "I'll need a little help from out feline friend," she whispered, winking. She turned back to the door, gently tossing the cat inside the door. The cat ran inside, leaping on the counter, frightening the secretary and scattering papers around.

Rei ran inside. "Oh no, come back here, er, Fluffy!" she shouted. As she hoped, the cat jumped off the counter, using the secretary to leap farther into the building, and vanished into the back.

'Stay here; I'll get it,' the secretary ordered, chasing after the cat. Rei smiled and leaped over the counter herself and, after rummaging through a filing cabinet, found what she was looking for.

A short moment later, the cat raced out of the back and out the front door. Rei ignored the lady and chased after the cat, smiling to herself and shouting for the cat. She turned as she exited the building and smiled at Tosh and the cat, who had returned to Tosh. "Smart cat, that one!"

She winks back at Rei as she went to discover the storage sheds. She watched as Rei tossed the cat and the female secretary. Tosh starts bursting out laughing before covering her mouth, holding in her hysterical giggles. She chuckled to herself as Rei made her escape and caught the cat as it leaped into her arms. She chuckled at Rei's comment.

"Good Fluffy!" Tosh laughed. The cat meowed at Tosh. Tosh chuckles, holding up a thumbs up at Rei. "Shall we commence with Part two?" Tosh said smirking with eagerness. She suddenly heard a loud and unusual roar come from where the storage sheds were. Uh oh.

[Yoyo]

Rei smiled at Tosh and was about to nod when she heard a loud roar coming from their destination. "No," she whispered, staring toward the source of the sound. She looked at Tosh, concerned, but shrugged them off. She knew both of them were fully capable of fending off an attacking creature.

To an extent.

"Can you get us both back there?" she asked, pulling the rubber glove off her left hand. "Sounds like we have a lot of work ahead of us for this blasted mission." She stretched, arms rising far above her head to warm up her muscles and make sure her automail was working properly. She lowered her arms again and smiled, then frowned when she heard a soft cracking noise. Her eyes grew wide and she tried to move her left arm; it did not move.

"Excellent, broken automail," she groaned, slapping her forehead with her good hand.

[Toshii]

Tosh thought over the Chimera threat laying near the pot of gold, their treasure chest, their key to the door, their... anyways. Tosh bit her nail and stood up stretching as well and pulled down on her fingerless glove. She scoffs at Rei's question. "I was able to carry two grown men through the air the other day." Tosh gloated and looked at Rei as her metallic arm flopped down to her side. Tosh gasped at Rei's disable automail, thinking of what to do. She puts the cat on her back, making sure its cling very tightly. Tosh grabs Rei's human hand, descending into the air with strong gales and landing softly on top of a shed. "Can you use your lightning alchemy?" she asked Rei.

[Yoyo]

"When my arm is working properly," Rei growled. She shook her head. "I'll be able to manage. It'll just be a bit more difficult. Stealth is even more key then it was previously."

They touched down on a shed in the back. She crouched low, examining the area. The sheds were all spaced about four feet apart from the one beside it, ten feet behind the one in front of it. She listened and watched for any sign of the chimera. When she found no evidence of their presence, she turned to Tosh.

"We need to find shed number 385. I can still use alchemy as long as my right arm is free, so we can get to the roof of that one, we can get in. Find some shed numbers and we'll just leap from roof to roof to get there."

[Toshii]

Tosh nodded as she grabbed a hold of Rei's hand again and summons another gust of wind to propel them high into the air. She slowly starts to glide freely, examining each shed as much as she can. Soon, they were passing the hundreds sheds. "Hmm, where could that shed be...?" Tosh said still looking out for '385'. She perked up just as she heard another roar, flying faster towards the sound and land on top of a shed. She looked at the one from across which had its doors slashed open. Tosh narrowed her eyes in suspicion as she took a look at the numbers '385' in red. "Well..." she started.

[Yoyo]

Rei stared in shock at the gaping hole in the doors to the shed they were looking for. She knew that chimeras were violent and would attack without provocation, but attacking a shed seemed to be little more than overkill.

"Well, no clues there," she said, disappointed. She stomped her foot on the roof in irritation. "Now what?" She stopped, listening. Amidst the growls and roaring of the chimera, she heard a soft groaning sound. She looked around in confusion, then realized what the sound was.

The roof they were standing on collapsed. Rei landed hard on the ground, fragments of the roof landing on her. She coughed and sat up. "Tosh? Tosh, you okay?" she called into the room. It was dark and dusty, but something shiny in the corner caught her eye. "What is that?"

[Toshii]

Tosh just simply shrugged, thinking about going inside the shed, just killing the chimeras and be done with it. Suddenly, Fluffy jumped off Tosh's back and landed safely on the ground, racing inside the 385 shed.

"Wait!!" Tosh called out before the roof collapsed, causing her and Rei to fall inside. Tosh landed with a thud, feeling a pounding and rattling sensation in her head. She got up stumbling and recognized a large ball shining brilliantly from the exposed sun. Tosh eye's widens in awe. They have found the disco ball. "YES!" Tosh said, the Yes echoing throughout the shed as she ran over and picked up the disco ball, running towards Rei when she called out for her.Tosh stopped when she saw the cat running towards her.

The cat leaped onto Tosh's head in fright and Tosh looked ahead at teh Chimera coming at the two, growling in anger.

[Yoyo]

"Oh, screw this!" Rei shouted, frustrated. She used her right hand to place her left palm on the ground. A metal pipe rose from the ground - a sewer pipe - and dumped its contents all over the ground. Rei frowned and crinkled her nose that the smell, but kept her eyes on the chimera running toward them.

"Cover your ears, Tosh!" she shouted, tapping the back of her left hand with her right. Lightning shot out of the sewer pipe and zapped the two chimera, stopping them dead in their tracks. They both toppled over and lay twitching on the ground.

Rei stood and walked over to the disco ball in the corner. "Found you, you cursed thing," she said, smiling. She looked around, unsure about whose shed they were in or why the ball was here. She found a note taped to the disco ball. She pulled it off and read it, groaning as she reached the end.
