That was gratifying. But it had to end for now, matters pressing them at the moment demanded attention.

"Well, wouldn't that explain why you're practically everywhere, Ace?" he asked, not caring that they were now surrounded. "I mean, I wouldn't be surprised, honestly..."

"Ahem," Ace said as he pointed at the crowd of cloaked figures who had knives surrounding them. "As urgent as it probably is to interrogate me, we're in a burning village surrounded by very mysterious figures. Me guess is that these are more pressing concerns."

Zane looked once at the cloaked figures before sighing. "Fine. Let's get this done and over with. But you're still a suspect, Ace. Not that it matters to me," he shrugged.

Ace pulled out his guns and began firing on the group around them. He nailed two to the ground before the others could react. He had no idea why but they seemed to be bad people so it was best they finish them off.

As soon as Ace fired his shots, he took out his dagger and slashed at whoever was left, effectively killing them or immobilizing them.

Dodging a few strikes towards him, he hit the last cloaked figure by the neck and they were all down in a minute tops. Ace did a pretty good job as he looked back.

"Okay, what were we talking about again?"

"I think you were going to give me a compliment," Ace said. "I can't say with 100% certainty, but I am more than mostly sure about the fact."

The village continued to burn around them as the two of them discussed matters not relevant.

"I really... seriously doubt that," he said stepping over the body and looking at the town. "Oh, right. No wonder it's so freaking hot here... the town's burning. Are we going to do something about this?"
