The Trading Path

[zergio]

Will had received a letter in town from the carnival, saying they needed 2 dozen apples for their Carmelle apples. They also requested Will to plant some apple trees for future needs. He was gonna make a killing off of this. However......

A group of bandits ambushed his cart. Will slapped his horse and muttered something to it, making the horse run quickly to the carnival. The bandits couldn't keep up, so they turned their attention to will, and took out their weapons.

"...... Crap"

Lightning flashed past Will and through the midst of the would-be bandits. The bolt branched out, striking each man in the chest, causing them all to collapse. Some twitched on the ground while others were much more still.

Behind Will was Rei, right hand stuffed in her pocket. Her left arm out, two fingers of her automail hand pointed at the bandits. "Leave my friend alone," she said to the unconscious bodies, then she turned her focus on Will. "You alright, Zergio?"

Will had no idea how she got behind him, but he was real thankful

"Thank you, and I am okay. First time I was ever targeted though :/ maybe they were hungry"

[Yoyo]

"Mm, perhaps," she said. She looked back at the bandits as she pulled a flesh-colored glove on over her left hand. "But trying to steal food from a boy is just wrong. Think we should catch your horse? There might have been some more bandits farther up the road."

[zergio]

Will nodded.

"Problem is, when I order him to run, he runs, and he dun stop till he gets to where he was ordered to go, or is forced to stop. We can't catch up on feet"

[Yoyo]

"Well, that's all I have for right now unless you have something else hidden in your pockets," Rei said, smiling. "We have quite a walk ahead of us. We're not exactly close to the carnival."

She turned to walk away, motioning for Will to join her.

[zergio]

Will walked beside her.

"We could use a roadrunner right now. Those suckers go really damn fast!"

We hear the horse cry from afar, and a thump

"I think he's been caught!"

Will ran ahead of Rei.

[Yoyo]

"But they're too small to be of any use to us," Rei said to Will's back as he raced ahead. She began running as well, easily keeping pace with him. "These darn bandits are persistent."

Will saw the bandits had raided his cart, but didn't touch the apples. Instead, they took a sack from the cart. Will then tackled the one holding it, taking it back, and ran back to Rei. The bandits were close on his tail

[Yoyo]

"Hope your horse isn't spooked by lightning," Rei shouted as she pulled off her glove. Lightning crackled around her left arm as she raised it. Two fingers pointed at the bandits, she directed the lightning she created over Will and into the ground in front of the bandits.

"Leave us alone!" she shouted. "You gain nothing from continuing to fight against us."

[zergio]

Will had hid behind Rei, and the horse wasn't spooked, keeping its ground.

[Yoyo]

The bandits stopped, unsure of what to do. Finally one began moving toward Rei and Will, the rest following suit. Rei grabbed behind her for Will to keep track of him. "I tried to warn you," she sighed as raised her arm again. Lighting flashed, thunder following it. The bandits flew backward, falling on the ground and not getting up again.

Rei grabbed Will's wrist and ran toward the horse. "We have to get out of here. I don't like how many of them there are."

Will jumped onto the horse and make him start trotting

"Jump on!"

[Yoyo]

She looked at the horse, Will, and the cart, then smiled. She climbed on the back of the cart and felt the horse slow some immediately before picking up speed again. "Too much weight on the poor thing'll kill it. I'll keep watch from back here," she said, crooked grin on her face.

[zergio]

"Relax~ Thos horse has been doing this for years. As his father had. They have been loyal and helpful, even till the last minute~"

Will petted the horse, going onto the cart as I made him go a fair speed.

"Anywho, watcha out here for?"

[Yoyo]

"I see," she laughed, settling among the contents of the cart. She sat quietly a moment, trying to figure out how to phrase her response. "A, um, friend caused a little trouble last time we were at the carnival. I went back to see if they needed help cleaning up. They had things covered, but they mentioned that they had a delivery of apples coming this afternoon."

She winked at him. "There aren't many apple salesmen out here so I figured I'd come this way and make sure you got there alright. Looks like it was a good idea, huh?"

[zergio]

Will smiled.

"Definitely ~ It pays to have apples, since they can be high n demand, especially from places like carnivals. Thing is, they wern't after the apples."

Will let go of the reins, the horse following the path.

"They were after this....."

Will was holding a rather large sack

Rei leaned forward to look at him, hugging her knees. "What's in it?" she asked simply.

[zergio]

Will looked around to make sure no one was looking, the horse trotting along.

"A egg. Not any normal egg though. I dunno what it is, but its... different."

Will pulled down the sack, reveling a egg with pictures of fire on the shell all over

Rei tilted her head and looked at the egg. It was certainly unique. The flames on the shell didn't look painted or dyed from a distance. "Where did you get it?"

[zergio]

Someone was after some meat from me. He offered the egg in return for 4 pounds of meat. It hurt my wallet, but this was too strange to give up on. I already recovered the lost money, but still. I've had it for about 1 month. I usually keep it warm by wrapping it in blankets"

Will placed the egg in a pile of clothing in a box secured to the cart, covering the egg with blankets.

"Those flames don't seem to be fake. but, the weird thing is whats inside it, am I right? What could it be, I wonder"

[Yoyo]

Rei nodded, staring at the box. "Fascinating," she whispered. "Have you tried looking in any books to see if you can find anything on it? I haven't read everything in my store. There might be a book that has information on it."

[zergio]

"I was planning on doing that, but I was preoccupied with other things, so I kinda forgot. Plus I got people stealing my sacks of grass for Greg, thinking its marijuana. Stupid folk."

He took a swig from his leather skin filled with water

[Yoyo]

"Yes, stupid folk," Rei laughed, leaning back against the side of the cart. She rested her head against it and stared at the sky. "He has lots of mysteries surrounding him. He's too young."

[zergio]

"I hope the wolves back home are doing ok. I gotta feed em soon."

Will offered the leather skin to Rei

"Thirsty?"
