Dwyrin sat down on a stool, tired from the day's exertions. It would have been nice if she could sleep, but things were on her mind that needed sorting out. She stared at the cup in front of her, letting her eyes go out of focus and settling into her thoughts.

She started slightly, not having heard anyone come up the stairs - let alone walk up behind her. "Well, if it isn't Zane the Messenger!" She spun in her stool. "Come for a drink at such an hour??"

"Haha," he sat beside her and smiled. "Yes, please, Dwyrin the Information extraordinaire."

She smiled and stood on the footrest of her stool, leaning over the bar instead of going around it - great customer service - and groped around for a bottle then stopped.

"Did you want anything specific??" For some reason she had just presumed to give him whatever she grabbed. She had been comfortable doing it, too. She looked at him, waiting for an answer.

He laughed. "Anything's fine," he said, watching her as she tried to reaach for a bottle. "I have something important to tell you though."

She gave him a questioning look and grabbed a bottle and glass. "I do like to hear inportant things," she said, pouring his drink.

Zane raised the glass slightly, thanking her for it. "Seeing as we're both into the information-gathering business," he drank a little. "I've gotten a job that would be a lot easier with help."

He looked at her. "And it pays good."

"How could I refuse such an offer??" she asked, airily. "Unless this is some devious trap planned out by some hare-brained military official??"

Really, she already knew she would do it, though she refused to delve into her reasoning for it. Even if it might actually be a trap. It was a fabulous opportunity to make money, to gather info, to see new things...

She picked up the glass in front of her and drank, watching his expression.

He grinned at her. "I wouldn't put you in such risks. I'm not that merciless," he laughed. "And I'm only affiliated in the military - meaning, most of my clients really are military officials but it doesn't mean I don't accept other jobs."

He finished his drink. "I have to go. I'll give you the details the next time we meet. Tomorrow? Yeah. See ya, Dwy."

As she watched him go, she was already making preliminary plans in her head.

Suddenly, she was sleepy. She put away the two glasses on the bar and headed for her room.

Cortlen silently stepped in through the front door and grabbed a chair. Apartment complex and bar usually meant hotel. With hotels, usually came the people he looked for. Resistance. He had hoped to see a familiar face, but realized, all his friends that he had made over the years were to be presumed dead. Great.

Resha walked in, hoping to find her brother in the apartment. He was in here the last time, after all.

"Oh," she saw the same guy she was in the med base. "I didn't know you... lived here?"

Cortlen smirked under his mask. "Not yet. Waiting on this Ace guy to show so I can rent a room. If I can find who I'm looking for, I'll find a more permanent place," he said rather calmly. Using the barrel of his rifle to scratch his back-through the suit, he kicked a small something at the bell to ring it. Surprisingly, it worked. "There are some things my training help with, others..." the air around him quickly gained a very dark and saddened feel to it.

She blinked. "Oh, I'm sorry to assume," she smiled. "Well, I was trying to find someone too."

Resha found him suddenly a bit down and felt that she had to lighten up the mood. "Well, better that there's something positive to it, right?"

He nodded, taking notice in her plight. "I guess... Young miss, tell me, what you do if the military gave you orders to kill your entire family, or be killed yourself?" He asked the question sternly, still staring at the floorboards.

It surprised her. "I don't know. But I know that I can never kill my brother. He's the only one I have. And he's not even touchable by the military. Why the sudden question?"

He continued to stare at the floorboards, now fighting his rage. Underneath his suit, his knuckles were white. "That was the first and last mission I ever did for the military. Killing my parents was the easy part, they fed me to the dogs-no offence. But I had another little sister that I didn't even know about. I had to kill her, and the rest of my old village. Single handed. I've killed hundreds in my training, but military soldiers have no meaning to me. Only people who can save lives. Going AWOL they listed me as a deserter and mass murderer... You can see why people find it easy to hate the military."

"Most people can indeed see why," Dwyrin said, not even trying to pretend she hadn't been eavesdropping, "even if they don't have horror stories like that." She pulled herself away from the spot against the wall she had been occupying and came more fully into the light.

She looked down at Ace's bell that had been knocked askew then looked back up at the pair. "Haven't we met before??" she asked the woman.

Resha frowned, unsure of how to answer/ She was glad a new voice saved her from having to. He seemed to genuinely hate the military and well, she was definitely one of them. So was her brother, whom he'd probably really hate too.

Resha grinned at the woman. "Yes, hello!" she said. "I'm Zane's sister."

He nodded, still seething. "Evening Miss. From the sounds of it, you actually might be someone who I'm looking for." Cortlen propped himself up with his rifle and walked over to the woman. "Also, do you know when this Ace guy is going to show up?"

"Zane's sister??" She was sure neither of them had told her that because before now she had a burning curiosity to know who his sister was. Well, mystery solved. "You have a frog right?? Resha??" she asked before turning to the stranger.

She had never seen anyone dressed this way before and was honest enough with herself to admit that he made her a tad uncomfortable. It didn't help that he had suggested he mght be looking for her. That didn't mean she had to let them know.

Dwyrin bobbed her head in a gesture of hello then rolled her eyes exaggeratedly trying to imagine what was keeping Ace away this long. "Ace isn't here, right now. I think he's busy with some other things. Did you need something??"

Resha nodded. "Yes, he told me about you. A few times, actually."

She smiled. "Yes! Omnom," she replied. "He's not here with me though."

Vaguely, she wondered what the two's relation was. But she was comfortable to know she wasn't alone anymore.
