Rei watched Tosh leave, feeling as shocked as Will looked. Thoughts began flying through her head, one after another without pausing to let her examine a one.

"She's Resistance. Those books have everything that I want to know about her alchemy. An orphan created by the corrupt military. There's a Resistance member living in my house. It would be wrong to look at her books seeing who they belonged to. Too many young people being hurt. Resistance. Alchemy. Corruption."

Rei pressed the heel of her right hand against her forehead, eyes closed. "What do you think, Will?"

"I don't know what to think. She has had a harsh past done unto her. I honestly don't know what to think anymore......"

Will petted Durin, who was asleep agenst his cheek

"That's true," Rei mused, sighing and letting her arms fall limp beside her. "But a Resistance member here? There's already been trouble with that military man, Des. To have a Resistance member living here could put all three of us in danger."

"Its the same having Durin here. All we can do is fend off or come to a agreement with whoever bothers us."

Will pulled out a book he had rented from the Library

"I suppose," Rei muttered, reaching out to stroke Durin's feathers. "It's still a mess, though."

"And its gonna get worse if my suspicions are correct...."

Durin opened his eyes as Rei's hand stroked his feathers.

"Do share these suspicions," Rei said, looking at him. "I'd rather like to be clued in on what could be worse than having poor relations with the military and the Resistance."

"Its about Durin though. Your friend, Ace, is on a mission, and was looking for a book on firebirds. The same one we rented. I gave it to him when I was returning the book. I think he might know about Durin"

"Ace," Rei growled. She never had hope when his name was mentioned in connection to anything she cared about. "The Resistance fool, what does he want with Durin? Probably just wants to sell it for money or something."

Durin began to walk to Rei, but fell forward. Will chuckled as he got back up and walked to Rei

Rei held out her hand for the small bird to hop onto and stroked its feathers. "Your resolve is good. How's your ability to follow through?"

Durin jumped onto your hand and ruffled his feathers.

"Im studying water alchemy as we speak"

The book he took out was one on water alchemy, and he was looking through the offensive section

"Good," Rei said, nodding, her mind on the Resistance and the corrupt government. She absentmindedly stroked Durin's feathers. "You're causing quite the stir, Durin," she whispered.

"Crazy bird," Rei laughed, looking at him sideways. "You think you can make everything in the world perfect by climbing all over people. I know it."

Rei leaned away from Durin, though that did no good since he was on her shoulder. "Do I want to know what it is?"

Durin ruffled his feathers and chirped.

"I just hope he's not smart enough to escape a locked door."

"He's not too smart if he just did that," Rei said, standing up and examining the mess on her shoulder. She sighed and headed for the bathroom. "Ugh, I need to clean this off."
