Will picked up Durin and placed him in his cage, feed him a smushed worm, then closed the door and locked it, heading back into the room.

Rei stood at the bathroom sink washing off the shoulder of her coat. She muttered to herself a few moments. Before long she found herself humming the song her mother had sung to her, the song Zergio had been humming.

Will headed down stairs to deal with any customers that may have been waiting for someone to assist them.

Rei finally got the mess off her coat. She hung it up to dry and went downstairs, feeling somewhat out of balance without it. Looking around she saw nobody. She sighed and shrugged, picked up a book, and sat down in a chair to read.

Will was cooking dinner in the kitchen, with Durin on his shoulder.

"Careful not to fall into the frying pan, lil guy"

"What'cha cookin'?" Rei asked, coming into the kitchen with a small stack of books. She stroked Durin's feathers before sitting at the table with the books.

"I suppose that's true," Rei laughed. "I never learned how to cook well. Maybe I should have."

Durin tried to climb onto Rei's head

Rei winced and grabbed Durin, setting him on her head. The thought of a bird sitting on her head made her laugh. "Don't do anything while you're up there," she warned the bird.

"I can kind of cook, but I could probably burn water if I tried hard enough. Well, no," she corrected. "If I tried to burn water I wouldn't be able to. It's when I'm not trying that I burn it. I just ate cold food for the most part. Sandwiches and so forth."

Durin ruffled his feathers and nodded.

"Well, a way for me to pay rent then is cooking you delicious meals then ^^"

Will begun to fry some bacon and eggs

"Scrambled or sunny side up?"

"Surprise me," Rei said, laughing. She flipped through a few pages of her book, then looked at Will. "Are you getting any better with your alchemy?"

Will took a quick step onto the ground, water from the sink instently flowing around Rei, and binds her for a second before returning to the sink, leaving no water behind

"You tell me~"

Durin shook a lil, surprised.

"Sorry Durin ^^;;;;;"

Rei pat the shivering bird and watched Will. "A defensive offense. An interesting choice, but one that can work well," she said, looking down at her hand. "Don't kill the enemy but incapacitate him. Good."

Just as Will finished cooking, the power went out

Durin glowed, lighting up the room. He also chirped

Rei's eyes grew wide at the glowing bird on her head. "Oh," she said. She sat a moment and watched the shadows on the walls. "The air."

"The air?" Will questioned, taking a seat, giving him and Rei equal portions.

Durin hopped off of Rei's head, slowing his falling speed by flapping his wings, stealing some of my scrambled eggs and running off with it, eating it.

Rei smiled and set down her book. "Water's made of hydrogen and oxygen, right? We've got that in the air. Don't depend entirely on it, but you should be able to get a little out of the air when you don't have any."

Durin, having finished the egg, tried stealing another. Will grabbed him gently, and put him on his shoulder.

"Not this time~"

Will took a piece of bacon and ate it, pouring syrup over his pancakes

"It helps to know where you can get a ready supply of what you use on a regular basis," Rei said. "You never know when you'll be in a tight spot."

"That is true. Luckily, lil Durin here glows in the dark ^^ and when he's a adult, just one of his tail feathers will light up a room. Disadvantage? It makes him easy to find."

Will went and closed the curtains.

"You had better be really good at fighting when he's an adult. And you," Rei added, directing her attention toward Durin. "You had better be good at keeping out of trouble. Both for you and Will."

Durin chirped and flapped his wings.

"I was able to trap you with a simple step, Rei. I think I'll be able to protect him, even just a lil, when he's a adult ^^"
