Zane nodded. "Not only if or when you were caught - just overall how you assess the situation from the beginning of the task. Or how you'll react to the scepter being stolen before you had the chance of even knowing where it is," he looked at Kotaro. "You are strong, no doubt about that. But fighting isn't just about strength."

Kotaro nodded. "Its about remaining calm, thinking your way through one step at a time. If you don't think, your just a small pebble being thrown at an enemy." He placed his forefinger and thumb on his chin. "I admit, I wasn't prepared for the staff to be stolen before me."

"And pebbles are worthless," he said and nodded. "I know. I was watching you. It took you too long that I had to leave a message."

Kotaro understood. He had tried to rush the problem because he was following a time setting. The palace was like a fort. He had infiltrated tough spots before, but the few entrances and the amount of guards. It was like the Central HQ. "I rushed through it because I was pressured." But something was bugging him. "How did you get up here, past the snipers?"

"I know," he said, he understood. He really planned it that way - for Kotaro to feel pressured because during then was the most difficult for a person to make decisions. "Kotaro, part of my job requires me to infiltrate any kind of territory. Stealth and speed are my greatest assets. Snipers' eyes are too slow for me."

Kotaro nodded. "I see why people still follow you." He closed his eyes. "I failed then." He opened them. "Your speed and stealth are amazing then. I would of at least needed a couple bushes to reach the palace walls without being seen."

"Unfortunately, you did," he smiled, glad he was being rational. "I can't let you in on my plans but you can keep protecting Resha, if you want. Of course, I won't slack off on that either."

"I like to get things done fast and without a mess, that's all. But your strong points lie somewhere else, just that. We all have our specialties."

Kotaro nodded. "Thank you. I'll protect her with my life, as I did before."

"I accept that. If my skills lie else where I will explore it."

"I prefer you do that," he said. "Except, that won't be good for Resha. Try to stay alive, Kotaro."

He nodded. "Good," he said as he wore his glove. A second after, he placed his gloved hand on the snow. It sublimed and no trace of snow was left. "Now, how do you suppose you'll be getting out of here?"

"I'm not going to die until I guarantee my friends are safe."

Kotaro looked down from the roof. The guards were still down there, surrounding the the palace. They hadn't found the crevices he had made yet, but it was only a matter of time. "Lets see..." He looked around. He needed a distraction. Big enough to lure at least some of the guards away. He knew he would probably be pursued after he got down. He thought for a moment. "May I ask what you would do?"

"You have every bit of intention of dying so long as it saves your friends," he shook his head. "I think that's wrong. But that's just my opinion."

He looked down as well and saw the scampering guards, tiny from their distance. "Me? I can easily jump from here to that tree," he nodded to a big tree, a distance from them. "And jump my way out of here, if I'm not feeling lazy."

Kotaro saw the distance of the tree. He would be able to reach at least halfway up the tree if he jumped. But Zane said if he was not lazy. "And if you are lazy?" He asked intrigued.

Kotaro lifted an eyebrow. "What makes you think they won't check the room?"

He smiled. "Even if they find out, they won't care," he said. "The emperor is a frequent client of mine."

Kotaro raised an eyebrow. "really?" he shrugged. "Guess I'll have to do it the active way, but I may need some help." He placed his hand in the air. A small bolt of lightning, barely visible, struck a tree on the opposite side. It was a lone tree, Kotaro made sure. The guards saw it and most of them went to investigate. "Now I can jump to the tree over here." He checked to make sure no guards would see him. None would. He turned to Zane. "Thanks for at least considering me." He took a couple steps back and ran toward the edge of the roof. At the last moment, he jumped, heading toward the tree. He went farther then he thought. He managed to get only a couple feet from the top. He climbed to the top and jumped from tree to tree till he was out of site."

Zane raised an eyebrow. "Help... with what?" he muttered as Kotaro did everything and thought about something. "Yeah, feeling lazy." He threw the scepter down the chimney and went to find a vacant room to sleep in.
