"Normally people start conversations like that with an accusation," Ace smiled and sat down.

"What kind of weapon are you looking for? The whip type, perhaps?" Ace asked.

Dwyrin looked at him oddly as he sat. She was unsure when he had stood. O_o "Guilty conscience??"

A whip?? She considered the choice, "It does seem fitting, huh?? It's practical, and can be used for things besides weaponry. And it's easy to carry and conceal. Can a whip be alchemically infused??"

Fang rushed out of the new hole outside the bookstore. "Heh," he laughed, and then looked at his pocket watch again.

"F***," he yelled. "I lost that pay...damn time restraints..."

The mercenary calmly walked into the bookstore and browsed through some mechanics books.

Rei watched the newcomer from her position behind the counter. She had been cleaning some of the shelves below it and had wound up curled up reading a long-forgotten book on the floor. She made a quick mental count of the shelves. "Mechanical books. Either automail or normal mechanics, probably," she thought, returning to her book.

Will walked down the stairwell, yawning with his eyes closed. He wasn't paying attention to anyone in the store as he reached for a certain book on alchemy and began to read it.

Fang had taken three books off the shelf, and brought them to the counter. "Hello, Miss. I'd like to buy these books."

Two of the three books were on gun design and repair. The last one was on ammunition construction. Fang Anderos wanted to upgrade his machine gun and make custom shells.

Even though he bought these for his "job", he loved the read, so he smiled like a true gentleman.

Rei ignored the man a moment, only a few sentences short of the end of the chapter she was on. Once finished, she closed the book and stood slowly. She hopped up on the counter and examined the books the man was buying.

"Hm, a soldier?" she asked, looking at the sideways. "No, they teach you that in the military. So then Resistance or someone who has a more-than-casual interest in weapons."

Will read through the book with a blank look on his face. Life returned to his face here and there, but he seemed to space out alot, his thoughts here, there, alive, then gone.

Fang laughed. "Miss, you flatter me. But no, I'm not aligned with any armed forces. I work alone, and for the money. Most people call me The Red Wing, but you may call me Fang."

He placed his machine gun on the table. "And this is what I need the books for. My gun is not up to par with modern technology, so I need to do some adjustments."

Rei eyed the weapon and set the books down on the counter. "Rei," she said, poking a few buttons on the antique cash register. She tore off a piece of paper that it spit out and handed it to him, staring out the window as she did so.

"Works alone and for money. Mercenary, she thought. "No one just sits and reads any more."

Fang payed Rei a good 200 sen more then he needed to, but he was in a good mood today.
"Thank you...Rei.," he smiled.
He walked over to a window and shot a blank into the ground below. The Red Wing flared as a huge pedestal rose out of the ground. Fang winced. "God, I gotta stop doing that..."
He jumped onto the pedestal and started to read his new books, sliding the machine gun into it's holster once more.

Rei watched is silent shock as the man left. "What a strange way to exit my store," she muttered, picking up her book and continuing where she left off.

Rei waved without looking up, absorbed by her book and her thoughts. She was trying to sort through all the people she knew and figure out who exactly they were.

"And who can cause harm."

She sighed and set down her book. "How's Durin?" she asked, leaning back and staring at the ceiling.

"Durins doing well. He got bigger, and even learned how to fly. I brought him to the farm, where he has a larger area to live in ^^ I also have other birds there, so he won't be lonely."

Will sighed.

"Its also best he isn't near me alot right now."

Rei glanced over at Will. "Why not? Last I checked you were pretty safe. Unless you've thrown in with the Resistance or something," she added with a wink.

Will looked away.

"No, its....... I've been...... getting angry recently....... and its whenever the military is mentioned. Its like I have a grudge agenst them........ but they never bothered me before. I've also grown violent........"

Rei's eyes narrowed. She toyed with a pen on the counter and looked back up at the ceiling. "You weren't like that when you came here."

Fang heard some of the conversation. He payed it no heed until the man mentioned the military.

How could I be so stupid?! He roared in his head, I'm on a giant peg, and the military is no doubt going to try and kill me. Maybe I should ask to stay in the shop for a bit. 'Til this whole thing blows over.

Fang jumped in through the window, the three books in his bag under his poncho. He kept his back to the wall, and kept one eye on the ground below.

"I know..... its just..... when you helped me look at the world around me, I saw the military. I began to hate them, but I don't know why. It was ever since I saw him......."

Rei spun around on the counter and was in front of Will in an instant. She grabbed the front of his shirt and dragged him close, their noses almost touching. "I did that to help you protect Durin from those who would cause him harm for their own gain. The military has nothing to do with that," she hissed at him.

She watched his eyes and let go of him, backing away quickly. Her eyes were wide and she covered her mouth with her hand. "I'm sorry," she whispered, backing into a chair and falling into it sideways.

Fang sighed. If it weren't for the money, I'd quit being a mercenary. I feel sorry these two...I put them in unnecessary danger...

He pulled out his machine gun, finger on the trigger. "I'm sorry. I fear I have put both of you in extreme danger."

Will was upset with just happened, and frustrated as well.

"Did I say it was your fault!? Im not blaming you for anything Rei! Nothing that happened was your fault! Im saying it happened when you helped me! Im not blaming you for a damn thing! Ever since I saw Des's symbol on his coat, I grew angry at the military. It was so familiar to the gangs symbol...... I began to think they tried to scout me....."

Will looked away.

"Im thankful for what you did........."

Rei sat quietly in the chair, legs hanging over the armrest. "Don't hate the military," she said softly, inwardly scoffing at her hypocrisy. She leaned forward until she could see the other man. "And you. You said your name was what, Fang? Why do you have a gun out in my store?"

[ Wow, I totally missed Fang hopping in here. What in the world? ]
