Zane watched as two girls went up a roof, hiding behind a tree and glaring at the snow. I should've tripled the amount for this work. What a pain. He sighed and decided to just get things over with. That military dude should be here, hm? He continued to watch the girls on the roof, trying to assess if it would be advantageous to reveal himself or not.

Des rose slowly and took a new MP5K off the wall. He rubbed it down and loaded the chamber with a clip. The weight, the smell, the feel of it made him jump with joy.

"OH hello. It's been a while."

Des pulled out a silencer and screwed it on to the tip of the MP5K. He lied back down and smiled. It was as if he died and went to heaven.

"I wonder where Rei is. I sure miss her. But I don't know what's wrong with me. For that matter, where is my phone. Commander could call at anytime."

Zane circled the house, making sure he was not seen by the two girls. Thinking things would've been faster if they weren't there, he contemplated on what to do.

He just wanted to break down the door but he heard the military dude was a bit spontaneous so startling him may not be such a good idea. On the other hand, he couldn't wait for forever for these girls to leave. He slumped by the base of a tree.

Pft, I have to endure all this snow just to give this folder to the military dude? From his commander, hm...

Des exited the small closet of weapons and grabbed another glass and poured himself some more wine. He began to sip it like crazy. The splinters in his arm began to reject themselves slowly and his vision began to get blurry.

"A-ha. Regen-eration. Damn...experiment."

Des fell on his behind and scooted up close to the second wine Barrel. He refilled his glass every few seconds. Hopefully no one saw him in this state.

Well, whatever. I want to get paid soon so let's just get this over with. He fixed his cap, covering the most part of his face.

He went back to the side the girls had their back on and sneaked to the side of the house as quickly and quietly as he could. Afterwards, he proceeded to the door and saw it broken. He sighed to himself. That was quite a waste of time then. I should've focused on this sooner.

He went inside the house, seeing it a mess. He looked around, trying to see if there was any hint to the military dude.

Des felt a presence inside the house rather than his own. Maybe it was just his imagination? Or an effect from the alcohol? Or even a pro of the experiment, either way he dismissed it and drank more wine. He totally forgot he was shirtless. His battle worn scars seemed to have decreased if only by a few.

"My battle scars? What the hell?"

Des felt his chest and his heart was pumping very quickly but it felt slow to him.

As Zane looked around, he eventually found a room where he felt a presence strongly. This kind of presence feels odd. He smirked. "Must be him then," he whispered to himself.

As he peered through a small opening of the door, he saw a guy drinking wine. Remembering the same face as the one in the photo given to him earlier, he knocked on the door. "Yo, you're the military dude, yeah?"

Des stumbled up and pointed his gun towards the voice. He readied the barrel and dropped his glass of wine.

"Who're you? I will...you know...hurt you."

Des stumbled forward and fell down. He got to his knees and his eyes zoomed in on the voice. His eyes displayed pitch, tempo, and depth of the voice. He knew it was a male, decently aged, formal.

You've got to be kidding me. He thought to himself, seeing the man stumble. Must've been a bit drunk, he concluded.

As he opened the door fully, he smiled at the guy. "At ease, I have no intentions of getting into any fights whatsoever," he raised his right hand and waved a folder.

He then neared the military dude and squatted near him. "Are you coherent right now, though? Can't tell you details if you're drunk."

Des stood up and smirked.

"Lieutenant Des of the 34th regimen in the Military."

He gave a salute and dropped his hand. He looked at the folder and his eyes lit up.

"I am coherent."

Zane stood up and smirked. He gave a lazy salute and said, "Yeah, I know."

"Hm," he turned serious. "I come here under the request of Ardunt to give you this," he handed the folder to Des. "It has your mission details."

Des took the folder and peered through it really quick.

"I understand. Were you followed? Is anyone here? Would you like to accompany me on this mission? I could always use another killer."

"There are two girls on the roof, if that's what you mean," Zane glanced up. "I'll tag along since I'm bored and in need of practice." Good, I didn't have to follow him secretly. Makes my job easier.

"I didn't check the mission details so fill me in," Zane said, taking his cap off and dusting the snow off it. He seems pretty okay, for the most part. I wonder why that Ardunt want me to gather information on his own men? When I'm done with this, Ardunt better throw in more than what he owes me.

"Two ladies on the roof? Must be Rei and Dwyrin, that resistance scum. The mission is a debriefing on the War Zone in Drachma. We are to go there and eliminate the opposing leader. Should be fun."

Des eyes Zane suspiciously and then saluted. Off they were to their next mission but first, Des took a step back inside the weapons room and holstered many guns onto his body.

Rei had followed Dwyrin up to the roof. She examined the window and the lock that kept it shut. She thought a moment before shaking her head. "Not exactly, though I can break it without a sound and then repair it," she whispered.

She placed her left hand on the glass and activated the alchemy circle on her palm. The glass bent away from itself, creating a small opening just above the lock. She reached her other hand in and unlocked the window, then repaired the window. She opened the window, breaking off the ice that held it frozen shut yet. She slipped inside, left arm out and ready to strike. The room - a bedroom - was empty but for the furniture. She waved Dwyrin in and made her way toward the door that she assumed led to the hallway.

[ My word, boys. Give us some time to respond before advancing the story by a ton. ]

"Resistance, hm?" Zane watched Des as he gathered weapons. "Hold up," he said and took the gun from his hand. "There's no need to leave right now. There's always tomorrow; rushing in isn't the best idea."

"What rush? I'm always ready. But I suppose we could stay here one more night. Share a glass of wine with me mate?"

Des grabbed two glasses and poured wine into the and held one out to Zane. Des began to sip his and let out a refreshing "ahh."

Dwyrin followed Rei through the door and down a set of stairs. They came out into what was obviously a sitting room of some sort. Further exploration of the area made it seem as though no one was there. Then she smelled it. Booze. Ugh, it reeks... The scent got stronger the closer she wandered to a door set apart from the rest.

"Rei," she called silently, "come look."

Rei followed Dwyrin and grimaced as she smelled the alcohol. "Someone's definitely here unless the rats have taken a fancy to drinking," she said watching the door. "We haven't found anyone here. Going down?"

Des smelt something other than the fresh scent of exotic wine. He peered up and looked beyond Zane at the door he came from but saw nothing.

"Huh, maybe my imagination. Zane, we best get going soon. Drink up."

A thought had been nagging her for ever since she saw the third set of footprints.
What if it's the Des-thing??
Or if it was just Des?? There's a slim chance someone is still here, hiding. But she doubted it. A murmur of conversation from below floated up the stairs.

Very quietly, now, Dwyrin said to Rei, "There's more than one person." She readied one of the knives, and stepped aside, "After you."

Rei nodded, pulled the knife out of her belt with her right hand, and twisted the doorknob with her left. She opened the door a crack, the smell of alcohol wafting through the opening. Rei blinked slowly as the odor filled the room. "Nasty." She peered quietly through the crack and, seeing nobody, opened it enough to step through.

Des smelt again and wondered what that smell was that was offputting his mood. Finally he slapped himself in the forehead and smelt his underarm.

"Damn, I need a shower immediately. Zane we are going to touch base first before heading out."

Des chuckled a bit and refilled his wine glass. Whatever brand and year this wine was, it was throwing Des into a loopy craze. He pulled out one of the guns and waved it around like a glowstick.

"Do I look weird Zane? Be honest? How much they paying you for this anyways? Forget it."

Des leaned against the wall and slid down it and sat on the floor. He looked at Zane and then ruffled his own hair.

"Yeah, you reek," Zane said. "Do you periodically fall into lapses of being drunk?"
He sighed and ruffled his own hair. "I'm being underpaid for bringing that folder to you. Been a long ways to get here, after all." Is he mentally stable? I best be alert when with this guy. Is this why Ardunt asked me to do this?

The strong source of the boozy smell was obvious. Peeking around the corner, she could see Des. He was slumped against the wall, gun in one hand, wine glass tipping over in the other. Shirtless for some reason. There was another man, standing with his back to them.

Dwyrin, not wanting a confrontation with the military, took a step backwards, The stair behind her groaned.
And it was loud.
