"A something like that?" Rei said, looking up at the ceiling. She could not make it out very well, but there was definitely something on the ceiling other than rock and whatever else belonged on a ceiling in a cave. It was just too high up for the light to reach it, but low enough she could tell something was there.

Ace stared up at the ceiling like the others had been doing. "Do you, think its alive?" he asked the girls. He didn't really like that idea, especially in a volcano tunnel where dragons were eating people in the carvings.

"Maybe we should move on," Ace said worriedly.

"That's a very big something, so I hope not," Dwyrin remarked as she shuffled ahead with just a little more alacrity than before. In a few minutes that seemed like they took forever, the three of them passed safely underneath the hulking mass on the ceiling...

Or so they thought.

The cavernous walls made the rushing of wind sound much louder than it should have been, as the thing from the ceiling detatched itself and swooped to the floor.

Alarmed, Rei dropped into a fighting stance. She nearly shocked herself with her arm as the electricity roamed farther from the metal than she wanted. Calming herself, she examined the creature. It was larger than she had originally thought and its wings only served to make it seem larger.

"It's like a giant bat only uglier," she thought.

Ace dropped back and pulled out his guns. He kept a steady aim on the creature as it swooped over head. He'd rather not have to fire off his guns since that would be quite loud but if this thing attacked them it would be a lot better than nothing.

"It doesn't look too friendly," Ace said as he trained his guns on it. "Maybe it'll leave us alone?"

"Doubtful," she half-mumbled, not wanting to attract the things attention. Carefully, Dwyrin snatched a couple would-be projectiles from her pockets and readied them. The creature did not attack the three of them, but stood swaying it's head back and forth as if it couldn't see them. It flapped it's huge wings and gave an angry shriek before taking a tentative step forward.

"Maybe it's like a dinosaur and can't see us unless we move," Dwyrin suggested hopefully.

"What if it's more like a dog and can smell and hear us, though?" Rei whispered. She tried hard not to move much, though, in case Dwyrin's suggestion was correct. She swallowed as the creature slowly made a few more steps toward them, wobbling all the way. "Any ideas?"
